Living in Mansfield

Sometimes you just have to see something to really appreciate it. Like the sweeping vistas you can only find here on the Mansfield campus nestled in the majestic mountains of Northcentral Pennsylvania.

Welcome to where rural charm runs right into big opportunity. We say dream big, and Mounties do just that from a campus rising above the shops and eateries along Main Street, so you’ll have plenty of places to find a new point of view or simply see things from a different perspective.

Downtown

Your home away from home, Mansfield sits at the crossroads of the Northern Tier of Pennsylvania. A short walk from campus, downtown Mansfield offers quaint coffee shops to catch-up with friends, a variety of restaurants to enjoy, and locally-owned shops.

  • You won't want to miss some of the great community events like the monthly Final Friday Market, concerts, festivals, and more.
  • Take a short trip West to Wellsboro, a popular tourist destination featuring a main street lined with turn-of-the-century gas lamps along with more great restaurants and shopping.
  • Right across the New York border to the north is the city of Corning where visitors enjoy a variety of culinary options, arts and entertainment, museums, and boutique shopping.
  • Head south and you'll experience Williamsport, home of the Little League World Series along with more eating and shopping opportunities.

Outdoors

If you love to explore the outdoors, Mansfield is the place for you. Scenic views of the Pennsylvania Wilds surround town and you'll often see a family of white tail deer who enjoy meandering around campus.

  • Challenge your friends at the on-campus frisbee golf course or rent a bike from Kelchner Fitness Center and ride the Lamb's Creek Hike and Bike Trail out to Tioga Lake.
  • Visit Hills Creek State Park, with access to great hiking, fishing, boating, and cross-country skiing.
  • A short car ride west is the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon, featuring incredible vistas along with trout fishing, rail trail biking, backpacking, camping, and star gazing.
  • Several state game lands are available nearby for the avid hunter along with streams, ponds, and lakes for anglers.
  • Enjoy a fun day trip exploring New York's Finger Lakes to the north.
