Safety Management is a critical component of most construction, industrial, business and government settings. This minor provides students with basic knowledge and professional skills in safety science and management.

Professor of Environmental, Geographical, and Geological Sciences
Special attention is given to OSHA rules and regulations covering the workplace. Students in this minor receive specific preparation for managing work site safety. Coursework covers material in industrial hygiene, incident investigation, fire safety, and hazardous materials. Students will earn their OSHA 30 and HAZWOPER 40 certification upon completion of the minor.

Safety Management Minor Requirements
- 18 credits required for minor completion
- Students should meet with their academic advisor each semester and use Degree Works to monitor their individual progress toward completion of the minor.
Students who complete the Safety Management minor will:
- Professional Competence: Anticipate, identify, and evaluate hazardous conditions to minimize risk.
- Professional Decision Making: Develop risk control methods, procedures, and programs.
- Professional Interaction: Implement and advise others on risk controls and programs.
