Associate Professor
Upon learning about the history of emergency management, the curriculum will prepare students with the knowledge on how to reduce impacts and losses from future hazard events. Students have the flexibility to focus on either natural or human-induced hazards through the availability of a range of electives, and coordinate their interests in emergency management with related fields of study like environmental and urban planning, spatial analysis, safety science, and risk communication.

Emergency Management Minor Requirements
- 18 credits required for minor completion
- Students should meet with their academic advisor each semester and use Degree Works to monitor their individual progress toward completion of the minor.
The Emergency Management minor will teach students to:
- demonstrate a comprehension of core concepts related to risks, hazards, vulnerabilities, and emergency management
- utilize discipline-specific (spatial) methods to analyze hazards and vulnerability issues
- obtain, evaluate, and generate quantitative and qualitative spatial and temporal data pertaining to hazards and losses
- communicate geographic information with maps and charts, and in writing, using
appropriate methods and terminology within the domain of emergency management
