Institutional Research
The Office of Institutional Research, a part of the OIE, is responsible for:
- Producing data and analyses for the campus administration to monitor various metrics and help support data-driven decision making.
- Ensuring that the university is compliant with the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education’s Annual Data Collection Plan which feeds data to the system data warehouse.
- Completing, or assisting with, required reporting to external agencies including federal and state governments, accreditors, NCAA, PDE, etc.
- Providing data and analyses for various campus constituents to help support day-to-day operations, assess effectiveness, and provided data for data-driven decisions.
- Helping to promote the university through external publications and rankings such as US News and World Reports, the Common Data Set initiative, College Board, Wintergreen Orchard, etc.
The Office of Institutional Research is dedicated to providing accurate and reliable information to ensure data integrity and quality. The office follows IPEDS data definitions and standards when capturing and compiling data. All data for official reporting is sent to system office for rigorous edit/error checks and validations to ensure data quality and integrity before it is loaded to their data warehouse and used for official reporting. Institutional Research publishes the following data sets and interactive dashboards.
Institutional Research Overview
The Admissions report shows the admission funnel, SAT, high school GPA, class rank, high school, and county information for incoming first-time based on fall census. There are also tabs for transfer summary, county, and transfer institution.
The annual course enrollment report is based on course census files and include tabs by campus credits, FTE by course level, FTE by primary delivery mode, FTE by primary medium (course type), and CIP code.
The annualized student enrollment report is based on student census files and includes tabs for FTE by campus, unique headcount, FTE by program level, FTE by gender, FTE by race/ethnicity, and FTE by residency.
The athletics enrollment by gender report is for athletics to view enrollments by gender for full-time bachelor degree-seeking students.
The completions report is based on annual completions and includes tabs for campus, program level, degree, degree group, gender, and race/ethnicity.
The course enrollment history report is based on census files and was created to assist with course schedule planning. It includes the enrollment history by course prefix with tabs by program, course prefix, course number, FTE by course number, and course number by semester.
The fall enrollment report shows the official fall enrollment at fall census and includes tabs for campus, FTE, average credits, gender, race/ethnicity, class level, on-campus housing, Pell recipients, parent education level, and honors.
The fall snapshot report provides an overview of some key indicators for a specific semester at census including breakdowns by campus, program level, gender, full-time-part-time, billing residency, Pell recipients, average credits by level, housing, URM, parent education level, class level, state, and PA county.
The fall enrollment maps include are based on fall census by country, state, and county for all students and new first-time students.

These reports are operational to help monitor enrollments prior to fall census. The enrollment report includes tabs for campus, FTE, FTE by program level, program level, class, full-time/part-time, gender, race/ethnicity, degree-seeking, high school dual enrolled, new/continuing, and a breakdown specifically for student activities based on fees by credit level. The major enrollment report displays enrollment by major/degree within the academic structure. The retention dashboard shows the current second- and third-year retention rates based on the most current week. The admissions-enrollment report incorporates registration and admissions data to identify numbers by majors.
The graduation rates report includes four and six year graduation rates for the traditional bachelor degree-seeking full-time cohort with tabs for campus, gender, race/ethnicity, high school GPA, SAT, billing residency, Pell Recipients, and first generation.

The first-time student report shows the number of new first-time students at fall census and includes tabs by campus, high school GPA, Old SAT, New SAT, class rank, gender, race/ethnicity, program level, Pell recipients, and parent education level.
The transfer report shows the number of new transfers at fall census and includes tabs by campus, transfer institution, gender, and race/ethnicity.
The personnel report includes employees based on the official fall census date and includes tabs by campus, campus FTE, full-time/part-time, union, gender, race/ethnicity, and IPEDS classification.

The retention report is based on retention for the traditional bachelor degree-seeking full-time cohort with retention to spring, fall of the second year, and fall of the third year. The report includes tabs by campus, gender, race/ethnicity, high school GPA, SAT, class rank, housing, billing residency, county, Pell recipients, and parent education level.
The spring enrollment report shows the official spring enrollment at spring census and includes tabs for campus, FTE, average credits, gender, race/ethnicity, class level, on-campus housing, Pell recipients, parent education level, and honors.
