Members of the Bloomsburg University nurse anesthesia program Class of 2022 achieved perfection in its national certification exam (NCE), measuring the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for entry-level nurse anesthesia practitioners. The 13 BU students had a 100% first-time pass rate for the NCE, 0% attrition, 100% employment rate, and 100% overall pass rate. The national first-time pass rate is 85.2%.

According to the program director, this is the second time Bloomsburg University has achieved a 100% first-time pass rate.

"Our class of 2016 was the first class to earn a 100% first-time pass rate of the NCE," said Debra Minzola, associate professor and the director of the nurse anesthesia program. "It's been a big year for the nurse anesthesia program with several members of the program winning the annual College Bowl at the Pennsylvania Association of Nurse Anesthetists (PANA) Spring Symposium in Hershey."

"Congratulations to the nurse anesthesia program class of 2022 for this incredible achievement," said Bashar Hanna, president of Bloomsburg University. "To achieve perfection is the result of many hours of hard work by the students, Dr. Minzola, and the program faculty. They are to be commended for this impressive achievement."

The National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists is the nation's certifying body for the initial, continued, and subspecialty certification of the more than 55,000 Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists.
