The Student Employment Committee recently held their Student Employee of the Year competition for the 2022-23 academic year. Supervisors on and off-campus across Commonwealth University were invited to nominate a student worker for this recognition. Congratulations to this years’ winners at Commonwealth University: Bloomsburg campus, Jenna Spaid and at Mansfield’s campus, Arianne Rouffignac.

Jenna was nominated by her supervisor in the Financial Aid Office, Amanda Kern. Amanda tells us in her nomination submission that Jenna “is extremely considerate when discussing difficult situations with students and parents and is great at making them feel comfortable while working through their questions.” Jenna will be awarded a $500 scholarship as part of her recognition as the first Student Employee of the year for Commonwealth University’s Bloomsburg campus.

Arianne was nominated by her supervisor in the Fitness Canter, Amy DeLozier. Amy had a lot of great things to say in her nomination submission about Arianne. “Arianne is a real team player, takes initiative, is dependable, and is always willing to go the extra mile and help others.” Arianne will be awarded a $500 scholarship as part of her recognition as the first Student Employee of the year for Commonwealth University’s Mansfield campus.

This year’s runner-ups include Jack Heroux-Skirbst, who was nominated by the performing arts department at the Bloomsburg campus, and Oyejadesola (Jay) Diya, who his supervisor nominated for his work as a lab assistant in animal care at the Mansfield campus. Jack will receive a $150 gift card to the BU campus store, and Jay will receive a $150 Mountie Den award for use till the end of the semester.

Our “ROOKIE” of the year awards go to Jessica Gasci who works in the Zeigler College of Business at Bloomsburg campus and Hannah Caccia a Supplemental Instruction Leader and tutor at the Mansfield campus. This award recognizes first-time student employees that show potential and initiative with a positive attitude. Jessica will receive a $50 gift certificate to the BU campus store, and Hannah will receive a $50 Mountie Den award for use till the end of the semester.

Congratulations to our winners and all of this year’s nominees.
