There will be a beach but no time for sunbathing or wave jumping. Also included is a trip to a national park, a desert adventure and even an island visit.
Sounds like a perfect vacation but in fact it’s the itinerary for Bloomsburg University’s unique summer course, Special Topics in Field Geology (EGGS 330).
Ten students and three professors have embarked on a journey to southern California for the next two weeks to study geological anomalies, interesting rock formations and further explore state and federally owned lands.
EGGS 330 is a hands-on special topics course in the Department of Environmental, Geographical and Geological Sciences (EGGS) where students spend one week in the classroom and two weeks in the field. Their week in the classroom was dedicated to researching destinations that will be seen on the trip and creating informative posters to present at each site.
Some of the sites they’ll visit include Joshua Tree National Park, Crystal Cove State Park, Dana Point, the Anza-Borrego Desert, the Mojave Desert and Santa Catalina Island.
