Students, faculty, staff and community members gathered at Commonwealth University-Lock Haven on Thursday, March 27, for a presentation featuring a Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) helicopter. The event, hosted by the University Police, aimed to strengthen the connection between law enforcement and the community.

The initiative was brought to life by Ashton Peters, community service officer and CU-Lock Haven criminal justice student, who saw an opportunity to engage the public with an up-close look at the vital role of the PSP aviation unit.
"It was a great turnout. Many people were amazed at the sight of the helicopter," Peters said.
The helicopter was piloted by Cpl. Kyle Schaad, and landed in the upper lot by the Zimmerli building on campus. Following the landing, Schaad provided an educational experience to attendees by offering insight into the capabilities of state police air support and its importance in law enforcement.
"I was glad to see the number of people; students, staff and the public, who came out," said Chris Prescott, chief of police, CU-Lock Haven. "Our student worker and community service officer, Ashton Peters, did a phenomenal job coordinating the event. I am also grateful to the local emergency responders, and the PA State Police Aviation Unit, who helped make this a safe and successful day."

Goodwill Hose Station 7 Traffic and Rescue Unit and Citizens Hose Station 6 were on standby and assisted throughout the event, ensuring safety and smooth operations.
"It was a great event that brought all people together in the community to learn about the great resources of our PA State Police," said Braden Bartman, CU-Lock Haven senior.
"The successful turnout sparked enthusiasm for similar events in the future, continuing to build bridges between officers and the communities they serve," Peters said.
