Commonwealth University-Clearfield and the Mature Resources Area Agency on Aging holds several programs throughout the academic year.

A recent topic covered was “Perception Is(n’t) Reality,” with presenter Eric Rensel, natural resource program specialist 1, Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. Rensel spoke about Umwelt, which is what we can perceive within our sensory bubble. He took the crowd beyond that bubble, to places where insects communicate using vibrations through plants, where fish find food – and communicate – with electricity, where birds find their way using geomagnetic forces and hornets track the rock thrown at their nest by following the wind eddies back to the thrower. Approximately 30 people attended the program.
