Three sport business professionals from the Cleveland Cavaliers NBL basketball team recently spoke to five sport management classes and held a networking hour for Commonwealth University sport management students at Commonwealth University-Lock Haven.

Angelo Hronis, a 2018 graduate from Lock Haven’s sport management program and former member of the Sport Management Club, was accompanied by colleagues, Joseph Perez and Jordyn Kovolyan.

More than 100 sport management students attended the classroom presentations and eight students networked with the professionals one-on-one at a meet-and-greet event. Several sport management students from the Bloomsburg location also joined the event via Zoom.

Hronis and Kovolyan began their careers with the Cavaliers together in their inside sales program, “The Foundation.” The two now serve in business development roles – Hronis as the director and Kovolyan as the senior manager. Perez joined the team eight months ago as manager of The Foundation.

The Foundation is a one-year program in which candidates can launch their career in the sport industry by working in ticket sales for the 10th busiest building in the world for events. Several students left resumes with the professionals and are looking to set up interviews to join The Foundation program starting in June 2024.

“By taking these opportunities, you’re betting on yourself,” Hronis said.

This event was coordinated by sport management faculty member, Bridget Roun, and Hannah Possinger, sport management graduate assistant.

“We are very proud to bring Angelo, Jordyn and Joseph, to campus to share their industry knowledge and to provide opportunities for our students,” Roun said.
