Dining at Bloomsburg

Face it ... you've got to eat. And here, we take your hunger — and your healthy dietary needs — seriously.

Chef at Commonwealth University-Bloomsburg, formerly Bloomsburg University, finishes preparation of sushi at the Scranton Commons.

It all starts with our flagship all-you-care-to-eat dining facility, the Scranton Commons (renowned for its homemade chocolate chip cookies). On upper campus? We got you covered at Monty’s, a cafe-style spot with a view popular with our student-athletes but a nice change of pace for all. Smoked BBQ, fresh-MEX, and Greens to Go are signature options up there.

No time to sit and chat?

Then it’s to the Husky Lounge we go for overstuffed wraps, fresh bagels, and made-from-scratch soups. And when you’re really on the go, there’s always these popular options: Subway, Chick-fil-A, Bento Sushi, Starbucks, and Dunkin Donuts. Yes, we have both — Dunkin and Starbucks!

You’ll coordinate all these options through a choice of 15 different dining plans, each flexible for you to find the best fit for your schedule and appetite.

Meal Plans

Because traditional residence halls do not have sufficient accommodations for students to cook on their own, we require students living on lower campus to have an A, B, C or E meal plan.

Students living in an apartment on upper campus, off-campus or commuting have the option to select any of our meal plans or they can choose to exclusively use FLEX or Husky Gold when dining on campus. Off-campus and commuting students will need to complete the dining only agreement in MyHousing Self-Service prior to selecting a meal plan.

  • All meal plans are billed on a semester basis.
  • Meal plans from the fall semester will be automatically reassigned for the following spring semester.
  • Weekly Meal plans can be increased at anytime, however, meal plan reductions or cancellations are only permitted during the first week of the fall and spring semesters.
  • There are no refunds, reimbursements or adjustments made in price or meals as a result of the university closing for planned or unplanned events, academic, work or athletic team conflicts. If a conflict arises, a take-away meal may be provided
  • Meal plan counts reset each week for traditional meal plans and each semester for block meal plans. Any unused meals will not carry over into the next week/semester and will be forfeited.
  • Meal plan and stored value account usage can be viewed online in the Husky Gold eAccounts portal

Fall 2024

  • You may add, change or cancel a meal plan for Fall in MyHousing Self-Service beginning February 1 through Drop/Add of Fall.
  • After Drop/Add, you may add or increase a weekly meal plan for Fall by submitting the online form.

Spring 2024

  • All active Fall meal plans will automatically be reassigned to Spring. This includes FLEX only meal plans. Any unused FLEX from fall will be rolled over to spring and any unused FLEX at the end of the spring semester is forfeited.
  • Off-campus and commuter students wanting to add a spring meal that did not have one in the fall will need to complete the Spring Dining Only agreement in MyHousing Self-Service before they will be able to select a dining plan.
  • You may add, change or cancel a meal plan for Spring in MyHousing Self-Service beginning November 15 through Drop/Add of Spring.

FLEX is a declining balance account available to use with campus dining services. All traditional and block meal plans include either $250 or $300 in FLEX at the start of each semester. Uses of FLEX include, but are not limited to, supplementing a meal beyond cash equivalency, grabbing a snack between classes, getting your favorite gourmet coffee or even buying a gift basket for someone special.

Upper campus, off-campus or commuter students can opt to purchase meals using FLEX only. To start using FLEX without a meal plan, you can voluntarily add funds on a one-time basis in MyHousing Self-Service at any time throughout the semester or select one of the FLEX only dining plans below. These FLEX only dining plans are billed like traditional and block meal plans and will be reassigned from the fall to the spring semester.

FLEX added once the semester starts will be available to use within 8 hours. A charge will be added to your MyHusky account within 2 business days and should be paid within 10 days.

Note: Students who selected a meal plan will automatically be credited with the FLEX associated with the selected meal plan. Voluntarily adding FLEX should only be done by students electing to only use FLEX for meals or students with a meal plan who are low on their original credit of FLEX associated with their meal plan.

Enhancements

Meal plan enhancements are included with all traditional and block meal plans.

Cash equivalency is an enhancement to meal plans that provides students with ability to use their meal plan in locations other than the Scranton Commons by providing a cash amount that is credited towards the purchase of food items. However, it was not designed to replace the main dining program offered in the Scranton Commons.

For example, if you purchase food from Subway, a "meal" will be deducted from your meal plan balance and a cash equivalent value will be applied toward the total cost of items purchased. Any outstanding balance can then be paid for with FLEX, Husky Gold, cash, or credit card. There is no reimbursement or crediting of any cash equivalent amount that is in excess of the item(s) purchased.

The cash equivalency rate for 2024 - 2025 is $6.60

Guest meals can be used to redeem a meal, from the plan's available balance, at any food service location that offers all-you-care to eat or cash equivalency.

Each traditional meal plan includes ten (10) guest meals per semester while block meal plans include five (5) guest meals per semester.

Meal exchanges are a predetermined food and beverage combination available at Monty’s and Husky Lounge for the value of a meal swipe.

Sick meals are available for students who aren't feeling well enough to come to a dining facility in person. These meals can be picked up by another student if accompanied with a notice from the Student Health Center or doctor. Please contact a dining service manager for details.

Take-away meals are available for students whose schedule requires them to be off campus during meal times. Students must coordinate with the dining service management at least 24 hours in advance to schedule a take away meal.

Dining Services Contacts

If you have an issue or observation about campus dining, please ask for a manager. Managers are available at all times to assist with issues and answer questions. An issue is best dealt with, by all parties, at the time it occurs. It's difficult to make improvements or corrections days and weeks after the fact and almost never by keeping it to yourself or your friends.
