CAEP Annual Reporting Measures

The mission of the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) is to "advance equity and excellence in educator preparation through evidence-based accreditation that assures quality and supports continuous improvement to strengthen P-12 student learning."

Accredited Programs

The following programs at Commonwealth University were accredited by CAEP in 2022 (Bloomsburg University, Anchor Institution) or are part of the new Commonwealth University PASSHE and University approved program array. Annual Reporting Measures

The following list of Annual Accountability Measures, which are required by CAEP, illustrate educator preparation and effectiveness to impact PK-12 student learning.

Pennsylvania Value Added Assessment System (PVAAS) data demonstrate the degree to which PK-12 students within a teacher’s classroom meet the expected level of growth for students in Pennsylvania. The data include statewide institution scores as well as Commonwealth University scores. Linked below is the most current data available from the state.

Commonwealth University College of Education and Human Studies regularly surveys employers to determine completer effectiveness. This data is reviewed and discussed with faculty in the College, as well as with employers during annual meetings.

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania uses two Teacher Licensure exams for educator certification. The Pennsylvania Educator Certification Test (Pearson) is used for PK-4 and Special Education certifications. Candidates for all other certification areas in Pennsylvania must pass the Praxis (ETS) exam in their content area. Title II Reports summarize passage rates on teacher licensing exams. The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania uses a sliding scale scoring mechanism which allows completers to achieve certification with varying qualifying test scores that are contingent upon graduating cumulative GPA. Title II Report passage rates in do not reflect Pennsylvania’s GPA-adjusted qualifying scores. Therefore, the attached tables contain a conditional green column which presents first time pass rates which include the PA pass rate under this regulation.

The National Association of Colleges and Employers’ (NACE’s) First Destination Survey is utilized by Commonwealth University to inform colleges and departments of career placement and perceptions of graduates. Ability to be hired is also reported in the Initial and Advanced Completer Satisfaction Surveys.
