Personal Financial Planning (Minor)
The minor in Personal Financial Planning (PFP) is intended to complement a student's primary major, and designed to provide non-finance students with an overview of the principles of financial planning and processes that can be used to help individuals to achieve financial independence and security, and also with the knowledge, skills, and competencies needed for success in financial services industry.

The Personal Financial Planning minor is open to all non-PFP students, both business or non-business.
Students interested in the Personal Financial Planning Minor should consult their advisor for information on course requirements.
Courses and Curriculum
Personal Financial Planning Minor Requirements
- 21 credits required for minor completion
- Students should meet with their academic advisor each semester and use Degree Works to monitor their individual progress toward completion of the minor.
Students who complete the program will be able to:
- Discuss the importance of wise financial planning and tax planning.
- Evaluate alternative financial institutions, financial services, and consumer credit.
- Analyze major consumer purchasing strategies and how to manage risk and insurance for the assets, properties, and life.
- Describe the fundamentals of retirement planning and estate planning processes.
