M. Safa Saracoglu

Professor Saraçoğlu teaches Islamic and Middle Eastern history. His research interests include provincial governance in the Ottoman Empire, the history of the Balkans, and Islamic law. He is director of the Digital Humanities Initiative at the university, an incubator for digital projects in the liberal arts. Most recently, he has been building an open-access database focusing on the transformation of Islamic law in the nineteenth-century Ottoman Empire.
