Biography
Dain TePoel is the Coordinator of the Master of Science in Sport Management program at Commonwealth University where he also serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Management. His academic background includes a Ph.D. in American Studies with a specialization in Sport Studies from the University of Iowa and an M.A. in Sport Humanities from Ohio State University. Dr. TePoel’s research emphasizes critical sport studies, examining sociocultural and historical aspects of sport, and he has published in peer-reviewed journals including Sport in Society, Journal of Sport History, The International Journal of the History of Sport, and Sport History Review. He is currently the Book Review Editor for Journal of Sport History. He teaches a wide range of courses, including sport media relations, sport marketing, sport in American culture, sport and environmental sustainability, research methods, and sport in the global marketplace. He is dedicated to guiding students on their journey to success, supporting them through capstone projects, internships, and exploring career paths in sport management.
