Chaya Merrell is the Director of Commonwealth Academic Technology and Support (CATS) which assists with the use of instructional technology to achieve higher learning in any learning environment. A technophile at heart, Chaya has over two decades of experience in online learning, design, and systems.

Chaya came to Bloomsburg University in 2015 as an instructional support specialist for the Instructional Media and Design Center. In 2018 she was promoted to manage the department which she expanded in 2019 to support strategic initiatives. In 2022 she was appointed manager of the merged academic technology units of Commonwealth University. In 2024 she was promoted to Director, overseeing the instructional technology and support aspect of teaching and learning at Commonwealth University. She leads a team of four highly skilled professionals with backgrounds in technology, education, and training to provide instructional technology support and training to faculty, staff, and students at Commonwealth University.

When Chaya is not helping people with technology, she is usually doing one of three things: entertaining her young, adventurous son, writing fiction novels, or attending professional wrestling events. She also enjoys traveling, especially if the destination provides ample surf and sunshine.
