Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI)

Directions from Professor

If requested by your professor for your course work, you can connect to a computer in the library remotely from your dormitory room or from off campus. (please have your professor email our VDI Support Team with your course number and section(s) to request access)

Download VMWare Horizon Client*

*VMWare Site - Pick the client that you need for your platform.

Note for Mac users

  • If your OS version is macOS Monterey (12), macOS Ventura (13), or macOS Sonoma (14), you need version 2406
  • If your OS version is macOS Big Sur (11), you need to use version 2309.1
  • You can change the version by clicking on the version number in the upper left area of the downloads page.

Configuration

Once you install this client, please configure it to connect to: myvm.bloomu.edu

VDI Add Server

When connecting to the server you will be redirected to the CWU/Microsoft SSO page.

Username is your CommonwealthU email.

After logging in, your may be presented a message from your browser to allow the website to open the Horizon client. Select "Allow" or "Always Allow".

Lastly, once the client is open, select "Student VMs"

If you are a Faculty or Staff member, you will get this screen.

In this box you have 4 options:

  1. Enter your 6 digit code from your token and click Login. (if one was issued to you)
  2. Type in the number 1 can click Login to get a push to your smart phone.
  3. Type in the number 2 can click Login to get a phone call on your phone.
  4. Type in the number 3 can click Login to get a text message on your cell phone.
