Students receive scholarships from Pennsylvania CPA Foundation

Three Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania students, Alexis Aucker '21, Nicolas Bell '23, and Tyahva Wilhour '21, were awarded scholarships by the Pennsylvania CPA Foundation.

Alexis Auker was the recipient of a $3,000 Academic Merit scholarship, while Yahva Wilhour was the recipient of a $2,000 Academic Merit scholarship winner. Nicolas Bell was the recipient of a $2,000 Minority scholarship.

The Academic Merit scholarship is awarded by the Pennsylvania CPA Foundation to full-time accounting students attending a Pennsylvania college or university, completed intermediate accounting, and has earned 45 credits and a minimum GPA of 3.4.

The Minority Scholarship is awarded by the Pennsylvania CPA Foundation to full-time accounting students attending a Pennsylvania college or university, is an ethnic minority, and has earned 30 credits and a minimum GPA of 3.0.

 “I would like to congratulate Alexis, Nicolas, and Yahva for being awarded scholarships from the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA),” said Todd Shawver, dean of the Zeigler College of Business. “I am incredibly proud of our student’s hard work and commitment as they pursue their careers in public accounting.  This acknowledgment from the PICPA is a testament to the high-quality accounting and business education our students are receiving in the Terry & JoAnn Zeigler College of Business.”

The Pennsylvania CPA Foundation judging committee is made up of current CPA members. Judges review and score all scholarship applications individually and then hold a judging meeting to discuss the final tallies and select winners based on the final tallies.
