The Pennsylvania High School Speech League will host its annual State Drama Festival competition Saturday, Jan. 7, beginning at 8 a.m. at Commonwealth University – Bloomsburg in Carver Hall, K.S. Gross Auditorium.

The top five Pennsylvania high school drama clubs will each have one hour to set up and perform a 20-40 minute play then tear down their set. The plays will be judged by a panel of five theater experts from the university and the Bloomsburg community. The high school students not only act in the plays but are responsible for the lighting and sound operations for each act. The judges will recognize the best three plays, the best actors, and the best technical crew during our awards ceremony.

This event is free and open to the public. Audience members may come to watch just one play or several plays but should enter and leave the auditorium quietly. Also, please note that the time frame indicated below for each school includes set-up, performance, and tear-down times, so there may be some dead time between performances.  There are not specific start times for each play.

Participating high schools, in no particular order, include Danville, Shikellamy, Towanda, North Allegheny, and Our Lady of the Sacred Heart. In order to protect the identity of each high school for the judges, the high school are not listed.
