First Commonwealth Bank expanded its footprint into the geographic areas of Commonwealth University campuses in the fall of 2019 and has since been an active recruiter of its students.

“First Commonwealth strives to connect with local schools and colleges to build financial confidence and show students career opportunities in the banking industry,” said Nichole Leskoven, Senior HR Representative for First Commonwealth Bank, who has represented the organization at several Career Connections Expos. She has been impressed with the students she has met.

“Commonwealth University students are polite and a pleasure to engage with,” said Leskoven. “They are courteous and come to events prepared. They often connect their coursework to the positions we have available.”

Leskoven says she enjoys conversing with students between classes and building a rapport while helping them explore their options, grow their confidence, and improve their skills.

“Banking can offer an excellent career path that encompasses many majors and degrees, explained Leskoven. “Many of our employees started in our organization as new college graduates and have built a successful banking career.”

For Leskoven and First Commonwealth Bank, the return on their investment will keep them returning to campus.

“We always come back with a pile of resumes as they all seem very prepared to be attending a career event.”
