MANSFIELD, Pa. – The Social Work Club and the Phi Alpha Social Work Honor Society of Mansfield, a Commonwealth University, brightened the holiday season for two local families.
Members of the club and honor society raised money through various fundraisers to purchase $150 worth of gifts for families in the Mansfield area. In addition, they collected items from other social work students and faculty to donate enough gifts to provide for two families, each with multiple children.
“It is heartwarming to see how our students make it a priority to help those less fortunate in our community at this time of the year,” said Dr. Bashar W. Hanna, Commonwealth University president. “Their efforts will go a long way in bringing joy to these families in this season of giving.”
“I am extremely proud of the selflessness of the students in both organizations for working together to provide something extra special for others this holiday season,” said Dr. Tiffany Welch, faculty advisor to both groups. “It demonstrates their dedication to the social work value of service.”
Among the items donated to the families were pajamas, clothes, and toys.
