When Enrique Josephs ’14 thinks back to his days as a student at Bloomsburg, he says his memories are “nothing short of amazing.”

The Mass Communications major recently volunteered as the Keynote Speaker for the Fall 2024 Career Intensive Bootcamp, citing the opportunities he had as a student to speak with industry professionals. Those opportunities propelled Josephs into a career as a voice actor. Shortly after graduation, he created Enrique J Media, through which he now contracts with high-profile production companies such as NFL Films, Marvel Studios, Paramount+, Sony Pictures, and Universal Pictures.

“[They] gave insights that we couldn’t get from a textbook,’ explained Josephs. “Hearing from working professionals can inspire students and let them know that their individual path can be extraordinary, depending on how they approach it.”

Josephs was impressed not only by how well his keynote was received but also by the number of students willing to give up a weekend in the middle of the semester to focus on their professional development.

“They were attentive, they were inquisitive, but more importantly, they were present,” recalled Josephs. “Placing yourself in positions to succeed is a large part of the equation. The students asked incredible questions, were getting comfortable with being uncomfortable, and some even reached out after the Bootcamp to further discuss their career goals and aspirations.”

Joseph’s advice centered around the combination of patience and a focused work ethic to achieve what he says may seem like ‘pie-in-the-sky’ goals, as well as the importance of interpersonal communication.

“I firmly believe that you get out what you put in, and I gave my all while studying at Bloom,” said Josephs. “I walked across that stage not knowing what was next but prepared for whatever was coming my way.”
