Caitlin LaVon, College Recruiting Program Manager for DHL Supply Chain, has been recruiting on college campuses for six years and has hired her share of Huskies.

“We’ve found bloom students are very hard workers,” said LaVon.  They make a difference from the time they step in the door. They learn quickly and are willing to take on challenging roles in new locations. They make an immediate impact and have longevity with the company.”

One of the perks of recruiting at Bloomsburg for LaVon is that so many BU alumni at DHL love to return to campus, so she always has a volunteer to recruit more Huskies. She says that DHL is often an attractive option for new grads because of its unique focus on its people in a 3PL industry.

Two people talking to each other.

“Our people are our biggest asset and what makes us successful,” said LaVon. “We, in turn, ensure they are safe, engaged in their work as well as putting the right programs in place to develop them as people and professionals.”

As a College Recruiting Program Manager, Caitlin is part of a team that manages one of those programs. The College Recruit Development Program helps a new grad navigate from college to beginning their career and for their first two years with DHL. The team manages onboarding and the transition into the professional world, coaching each hire into the most suitable role and ensuring their skill set aligns with their goals.

“Our hires have constant room for movement and growth within DHL,” said LaVon.  The size and scope of the organization allows for stability to build a career with a fast-paced, high energy, and goal-driven environment.”

Part of that program is “ACES”: employees who are ambitious, confident, and enthusiastic.  LaVon describes ACES as those who go above and beyond their job description, learn to be creative, and develop new ideas with the patience and understanding necessary to make a real impact. In addition, they have the confidence and humility to win people over and lead a team of individuals from different backgrounds.  LaVon says that Huskies have been well suited to the program, and while many have come directly to DHL from the Supply Chain major, the company welcomes those with all manner of backgrounds.

“We look for those who have a passion for working with people,” said LaVon. “While we love supply chain majors, there are many others who are looking for a role where one is not sitting behind a desk and can make an immediate impact.”
