Casey Hibbard, of Rochester, New York, is the recipient of Commonwealth University-Lock Haven's Athletic Training Alumni Scholarship and Chris Andorfer Ward Memorial Lacrosse Scholarship for the 2022-23 school year.
Hibbard is a 2022 graduate, summa cum laude, of Lock Haven's 3+2 health science program, with a concentration in exercise science. This fall, she began graduate studies in the athletic training program at Lock Haven.
Along with boasting a 3.82 GPA as an undergraduate student, Hibbard is also a member of the Bald Eagles lacrosse team, and an active member of the Athletic Training Club, Student Veteran Alliance, and Student-Athlete Advisory Council.
Initially drawn to The Haven by its homelike atmosphere and welcoming campus community, Hibbard said she loves representing the university as a student-athlete, and appreciates the high-quality education and supportive faculty, coaches, and staff that she believes makes the university a very special place.
"I am convinced you will not be able to find a more supportive group of faculty, coaches, and staff anywhere else," Hibbard said. "They will push you to be the very best student you can be, while teaching you real-world problem solving and interpersonal skills for life after college."
Hibbard's scholarships have also had a significant positive impact on her Haven experience by helping to alleviate financial stress of affording college and enabling her to get the most out of her academic and athletic experiences.
"I would not be able to compete in lacrosse and achieve my academic and professional goals without these scholarships," Hibbard said. "Through lacrosse, I have learned leadership and problem-solving skills, all while receiving an amazing education. My passion for the field of athletic training continues to grow, and I am truly honored to be the recipient of these scholarships, and for the opportunity to continue making the most of my athletic and academic careers."
In the future, Hibbard aspires to become an athletic trainer at the collegiate level or in the growing field of public safety athletic training.
