The Bloomsburg community shone a light on the issue of suicide Thursday evening, Nov. 10, with the panel discussion and screening of the film "Facing Suicide."

A group of people listening to someone talk behind a podium.

Each year tens of thousands of Americans take

their own lives. See a new documentary on this urgent healthcare challenge and hear a courageous Bloomsburg student share her story at an important free screening and discussion.

Chris Norton from WVIA hosted the event, which was part of the JED Campus initiative and involved campus partners such as Counseling Services.

A panel discussion included:

  • Abby Shaffer, Bloomsburg University Senior Nursing Student and Field Hockey Player
  • Aaron Slusser, K-12 Counselor, Milton Area School District and President, Susquehanna Valley School Counselor’s Association
  • Whitney Robenolt, Psy.D., Counselor at Bloomsburg University Center for Counseling and Human Development
  • Danielle Empson-Schultz, Director, McDowell Institute, College of Education and Human Studies
