Voice students from Commonwealth University-Mansfield recently won recognition at the Allegheny Mountain Chapter (AMC) National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Student Auditions, held Nov. 4 at CU-Mansfield. The auditions included about 75 entries from around Pennsylvania.
All three of the voice faculty at Mansfield, Dr. Todd Ranney, Dr. Alissa Rose, and Jordan Schreiner, entered students in the auditions, and all had student winners at the competitions, where students competed against other students of a similar age and experience level.
The top three winners in each category were featured in a final concert at the end of the auditions. All students received comment sheets from the judges, who are voice teachers and NATS members.
"These auditions are a great opportunity for the students to get feedback about their singing, hear other students from around the area and be exposed to a wide variety of repertoire," Rose said.
The student auditions are one of the major activities of each NATS chapter.
