MANSFIELD, PA (03/30/2023) Four Commonwealth University-Mansfield students from geosciences, Emili Sterling, Em (Emily) Donne, Kora Somma and Morgan Mesaris, will engage in climate change public outreach at the Warehouse Theatre in Wellsboro, April 21 -23.
In honor of Earth Day (April 22), the theatre is featuring “The Moons of Jupiter,” a play written by playwright Dr. Jessica Litwak, who created the work as an interdisciplinary project linking science and theatre.
Performances are on Friday and Saturday, April 21 and 22, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, April 23, at 2:30 p.m.. Tickets are $16 for adults and $8 for students.
The play imagines a future when Earth has run out of fresh water and only vodka is available. Water must be purchased on the black market and a young scientist is trying to come up with a solution by designing a spacecraft that can travel to one of Jupiter’s moons, in an effort to collect water and save Earth.
Prior to each performance, Mansfield’s geoscience students will present a public outreach session focused on how climate change is expected to impact the state of Pennsylvania through the remainder of this century.
