Commonwealth University-Lock Haven has planned a full schedule for students and their families during a Family Weekend celebration Oct. 6-8. Events will kick off on Friday, Oct. 6 with a concert at the Roxy Theatre featuring popular area bands beginning at 6:30 p.m. with Kate & the Alchemists, followed by DuMM at 8 p.m.

The concert is also open to the public and the campus trolley will be operating during the evening from the campus to downtown and back again.

"The goal of the event is to develop an ongoing program that will encourage students and faculty to visit, shop and dine downtown. This is an important first step in not only reestablishing university relationships downtown but also to bring the campus to Main Street and later Main Street to the campus," said Stephen Lee, Lock Haven campus administrator. "We view this partnership with the community as essential for student well-being and recruitment."

CU-Lock Haven plans to make this an ongoing program with several events during 2023 and 2024. Details are still being developed but will include student discounts with local merchants as well as concerts and special events on campus.

"It is a way to connect the community with the campus while combining resources to benefit everyone," Lee said.

To date, sponsors include Commonwealth University and the Alumni Foundation, the Clinton County Arts Council, the Clinton County Visitors Bureau, The Express, The City of Lock Haven, The Clinton County Community Foundation, Bob Mcguire and The First Citizens Bank.
