Commonwealth University has launched a new program to prepare nurses for executive leadership roles.

The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP): Nurse Executive program consists of 29 credits delivered online asynchronously over two years.

“The DNP Nurse Executive program opens up new career options that can include health care executive, chief nursing officer, nursing faculty, or project director,” said program director Lori Parke. “Nearly all of our students are employed full-time as nurses. Our program offers flexible coursework built with working nurses in mind.”

The program requires 1,000 clinical hours, half of which are part of the curriculum and half are completed outside of coursework. Throughout the program, students also complete a personalized evidence-based project that seeks to improve some aspect of the health care system.
