A group of Bloomsburg University audiology doctoral students presented research this fall at the annual American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) Convention in Boston, three of which landing travel awards.
Amanda Levy and Brittanie Baker teamed up to research the “Degree of Ear Asymmetry and Its Implications in Diagnosis of Amblyaudia,” while Taylor Chesnet and Kylie Connell collaborated on “Assessing Test Specific Diagnostic and Management Value of the Audiological Test Battery.”
The ASHA Convention is the premier professional education event for speech-language pathologists, audiologists, and speech, language and hearing scientists. Bringing together approximately 15,000 attendees, according to ASHA, the convention provides unparalleled opportunities to hear the latest research and gain new skills and resources to advance careers.
The students presented a total of three papers with their advisor, Mohsin Ahmed Shaikh, Ph.D., CCCA, an assistant professor of audiology. Three of them — Baker, Chesnet and Connell — were selected to receive Audiology/Hearing Science Research Travel Awards (ARTA) for their presentations. As an award, Shaikh said they received a certificate, a stipend of $500 and complimentary registration for the ASHA convention.
