Aspiring entrepreneurs from Bloomsburg and across the state descended on Commonwealth University-Bloomsburg on March 23 to pitch their ideas to a panel of judges this week at the sixth annual Husky Dog Pound Competition. Middle, high school, and university-level students competed for $20,000 in prizes across two divisions.
This year, over 100 teams from 41 schools competed in the middle and high school divisions, and seven teams from Bloomsburg University competed in the college division. Teams presented a three-minute pitch on their business idea to a panel of judges, and were judged on marketability, feasibility, profitability, and presentation skills.
The competition is sponsored by the Zeigler College of Business, Michael L. Boguski ’85, president of Specialty P&C at ProAssurance, and Beth Ann Boguski; Matt Zoppetti, president of the Shangrila Development Corporation; and Roxana Zoppetti, owner of La Malbec Bar and Restaurant.
