Piano Day will take place on Saturday, April 5, at Haas Center for the Arts, CU-Bloomsburg from 2 to 5 p.m. with special guest jazz pianist Aaron Diehl and Bloomsburg piano professor Dr. Charisse Baldoria.
Piano Day is for pre-college piano students and their parents and teachers. Participation is free.
Each piano student will have the opportunity to perform on the beautiful Steinway Select Concert Grand Piano in the 1800-seat Mitrani Hall, learn about improvisation from jazz pianist Aaron Diehl, play in a masterclass by Dr. Baldoria, and get free tickets to the Aaron Diehl Trio concert that will take place at 7:30 p.m. that evening in Carver Hall’s Gross Auditorium.
A leader in contemporary jazz, pianist Aaron Diehl has quietly redefined the lines between jazz and classical and has performed with musical giants such as Wynton Marsalis, Cécile McLorin Salvant, Tyshawn Sorey, and Philip Glass, and has been a soloist with the New York Philharmonic, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and the San Francisco Symphony.
A prizewinning pianist, Baldoria has performed on five continents and is Piano Day’s founder. For more information and to register for free, go to https://bit.ly/pianoday25.
