Campus Recreation seeks to promote healthy lifestyles for our students by offering excellent recreation and wellness programs and facilities. Campus Recreation strives to offer variety in group fitness, intramurals, special events, clubs sports, climbing walls, Quest and fitness programming to best meet the needs of our diverse membership base.

A Campus Recreation membership is included for all undergraduate and graduate students who are actively enrolled in classes on campus and are being assessed the Rec Fee Portion of the Student Services Fee for the current semester. All others may acquire access by purchasing a membership. Memberships are available for CU faculty, staff, retiree, emeriti, alumni, spouses and children living in the same household that are 18 years of age. Cardio/Circuit Room

A 6,500 sq ft room consisting of 70 plus cardio machines. Cybex bikes, treadmills, and Arc Trainers. Precor AMTs ellipticals, treadmills, steppers. True striders, Life fitness stairmasters. And lots more. This room also holds a complete line of Cybex Eagle sectorized equipment and a 5 station Cybex multi-gym.

Weight Room

Hammer Strength Olympic benches and power racks, Hoist and Hammer Strength plate loaded weight machines, Life Fitness 8 station multi-gym, cable stations. Dumbbells with benches, stretching mats, exercise/stability balls, plyo boxes, kettle bells.

Climbing Wall

A 39' Entre‐Prises imprint climbing wall and freeform boulder area is located just off the lobby. Provides members an opportunity to get acclimated to what rock climbing is like and is a great alternative exercise activity. No experience required, equipment and climbing shoes are provided at no charge.

Dance Studio

With a specially designed floating wood floor, this room is used for aerobics classes, martial arts, club and intramural meetings, wellness classes, dance and floor exercise. The SRC offers a full schedule of group exercise classes throughout the week.

Gymnasium (Courts 1-5)

Volleyball, basketball, tennis, indoor soccer, special events. Reservations for special events/fundraisers per requests.

Track

Walking, jogging, running (8 laps equal 1 mile)

Boxing Area

Heavy bags, speed bags, stretching mats, Synergy station with resistance bands, medicine balls, pull up bar, TRX, and heavy ropes.

Power Room

Power racks, kettle bells, plyo boxes, rings, rowers, timers. Exercise bicycles, pull-up bar, heavy rope, stretching mats.

Racquetball Courts

Features four glass backed racquetball courts that are also adaptable for wallyball. Racquets/equipment are provided at no charge with a BUID exchange at front desk.

Student Recreation Center

CU-Lock Haven's Student Recreation Center is the perfect place to get fit and let off steam. Whether you’re looking for the structure of a fitness class, a place to gather with friends and play racquetball, or the challenge of a climbing wall, the SRC has all you need and more. Our programs encourage a healthy, balanced lifestyle and provide countless options for your leisure time.

The SRC hosts 12 intramural sports teams including basketball, volleyball, soccer, dodgeball and more. The 42,000 square foot facility houses 3 multipurpose courts, 3 racquetball courts, dance/aerobics room, elevated indoor running track, 5 cardio bays, weight room, and a 30’ climbing wall.

Membership Eligibility

Who is eligible for an SRC membership?

  • All current enrolled LHU students (membership is paid as a part of your student fees)
  • CU-Lock Haven Faculty and Staff
  • Retired CU-Lock Haven Faculty and Staff
  • CU-Lock Haven Alumni
  • All participants must be at least 18 years of age or a CU-Lock Haven student.

Guest Passes

Family members and friends may accompany Student Recreation Center members for a day of fun, exercise, and recreation for only $5. LHU alumni may purchase a guest pass, without being accompanied by a current SRC member.

Kelchner Fitness Center

Kelchner Fitness Center offers a wide variety of programs and services for our students, staff, faculty and local community members.

Fall and Spring Semester Hours

  • Monday through Thursday, 8am to 10pm
  • Friday, 8am to 9pm
  • Saturday, 2pm to 6pm
  • Sunday, 5pm to 9pm

Summer Semester Hours

  • 12pm to 7pm

Holiday Hours

During semester breaks and holidays the Kelchner Fitness Center will have special hours. See the front desk for more information.

Finals Week Hours

During finals week we alter our hours to give our student staff plenty of time to study for their finals!

Closings

Kelchner Fitness Center closes several times during the school year for extended school breaks, cleaning and maintenance. We will advertise these in advance so our students and community members are aware of the changes to our schedule.

When the University is closed due to weather we make every attempt to stay open to give the on campus students something to do. Call the front desk at 570-662-4234 to find out if we are open during these weather related University closings.

Group Fitness Classes

No need to sign up for classes - Just show up ready to work out! A water bottle and towel are highly recommended. Appropriate workout wear and athletic shoes are required.

In February of 2012 the Kelchner Fitness Center's Climbing wall was completed.

Climbing Wall Access Information

Open recreation climb hours are free to all students, staff, faculty, faculty family and community members with memberships. Our climbing staff will assist you and are available to belay.

We do encourage our members to take a belay lesson from one of our student staff.

Groups and Organizations

All CU-Mansfield and Community groups wishing to use the wall need to make advance arrangements. This ensures we have the right amount of belay staff available to accommodate your group.

Multi-Use Gymnasium

Our multi-use gymnasium is used for intramurals, special events, large group fitness classes, sports clubs and occasionally athletics. Students can play:
