About the Building

Nestled among the mountains of Central Pennsylvania and conveniently located on Lock Haven University’s beautiful campus, the Durrwachter Alumni Conference Center (DACC) provides an inviting and versatile space for all of your event needs. Whether you are hosting a wedding, conference or party, the DACC has just the space you are looking for.

The Durrwachter Alumni Conference Center is the first building in Pennsylvania's State System of Higher Education to achieve official certification as a “green” building. In 2009 the DACC achieved its certification for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) from the U.S. Green Building Council. More than 98 percent of the DACC construction waste was diverted from the landfill. More than 32 percent of the construction materials were harvested and manufactured locally, earning this facility a high ranking.

Lock Haven University and its alumni longed for a building to call their own, one that would serve as a virtual “front door” for University visitors. The Durrwachter Alumni Conference Center is a representation of the loyalty and pride of Lock Haven alumni and a symbol of those who have come before and those yet to come. It represents a place that alumni can call home. This is a building where alumni achievements are recognized and showcased. This building is an exciting resource for alumni, current students and the surrounding community.

The ground breaking ceremony was held on June 9, 2006. Around 500 alumni celebrated at the future site of the Durrwachter Alumni Conference Center, which is located at the intersection of Water Street and Susquehanna Avenue.  After years of construction, the ribbon cutting ceremony was held on April 18, 2008.

Offices in the DACC

Admissions

  • This office is located on the bottom floor or first floor of the DACC. New and perspective students flow through the admissions office regularly. That is why it was designed with students in mind. It has a comfortable, modern feel. Flat screen televisions throughout the space display the name of each perspective student. Not only will the students be greeted by friendly staff, but cookies and punch are available to help all who visit feel like The Haven is a place they could call home.

Strategic Communications and Marketing

  • This office, located on the second (main) floor of the DACC, serves as the liaison between the University and the news media to ensure accurate information is communicated both internally and externally. Additionally, the department produces a variety of printed material including the University's alumni magazine, The Haven, printed brochures, web and electronic publications, and takes creative lead in the design and content management of the University website.
